1920s Chinese Shoes Slippers in Flower Pot Embroidered Velvet Slippers / 20s Traditional Ethnic Asian Fold Costume / Size 6
The story goes that the flower pot shoe of the Manchu period was a way to evoke the styles of bound feet shoes, without the actual binding! These were originally on a large, wooden platform shaped like a flower pot (do a quick search for chinese flower pot shoes and you will see), but now just the top slipper part remains.
Black velvet base is embroidered in cotton thread and trim in the shape of flowers and undulating bands. Hand swen wooden bottom sole. Interior is canvas. No markings.
