"I'm Taking You Straight to the Amalfi Coast": An Homage to Jess and Linda's Sense of Style sent

"I LOVE IT! I'm taking you straight to the Amalfi Coast!"

Now, if that's how YOUR husband reacts when you bring home a piece of freshly acquired vintage, you have a rare gem on your hands.
And, my friend, Jessica surely does.

Here is the item her guy was reacting to, purchased at my latest popup at the Modern Vintage show.

It's an 80s, rayon print, Louis Feraud blouse with an amazing beach umbrella - meets polka dots - meets stripes print!

Feraud was born in Arles - not too far from the Amalfi coast! And, I have to agree, this piece belongs on a body strolling along a Mediterranean shore line, casually worn open over a bikini!

The anecdote between Jess and her husband inspired me to present the below homage to two of my delightful friends/clients/fellow vintage fashion lovers.

First is Jess. Here she is bantering with me at Sunday's show.

And here is the lovely Linda, who also came to visit. Her prowess at fashion coordination and statement is a walking master class in style.

Decades apart, these  women are both very experienced and savvy fashion hunters in the sense that they really  understand and embrace what suits them. They respect and trust their own taste, and they are not afraid to be SEEN!

Jess also went home with this 80s beauty in silk velvet, by Yves Saint Laurent

Here is Linda in some of my favorite looks of the past few years. She always wears a hat or a headpiece of some sort. I make sure and wear one too when I'm meeting up with her.

Recently, Linda shared with me this inspiring TED talk, which you will not regret spending the twelve minutes on -  especially if you need a kick in your sweatpant wearing toohas.

Is the Key to Loneliness Hiding In Your Closet?

Mollie Kaye shares her journey in "dressing up" every Tuesday and going out to purposefully make conversation with strangers.

A sampling of her nuggets of wisdom:

"Blending in is not the same as belonging."

"YOU are the special occasion. Dress for it!”

"We are terrified to be noticed but we are dying to be seen."

Now, don't wait for a Tuesday, and next time you reach for an "invisawear" item...RESIST!

Maybe we will notice each other and smile.
