Scarves of May / And a Historic Auction!

The darling buds of May are here along with ...

SILK SCARVES!

I wear them in my hair, around my neck, my waist, tied around the strap of a shoulder bag !

I have also hung them up as art and was inspired to start collecting thanks to Benoit Pierre Emery!

If you're at all a visual person or enjoy good graphic design, you get it.
They make great gifts (ahem...Mothers day!), but can also really kick your outfit up several notches!

My shop is currently bursting with their gorgeousness  (see below), from brands like Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Oscar de la Renta, YSL, Bottega Veneta among many others.

Proceeds from each scarf go towards my daughter's college fund.
No joke!
I actually opened a high-yield savings account especially for this.

A Very Historic Fashion Auction will take place in New Jersey on
May 21st - 22nd!

The closet of the great 60s model and muse Peggy Moffitt  will be made available for bidding.

Moffitt  represented the avant-garde looks of fashion designer Rudi Gernreich. These two mavericks were a match made in fashion heaven, and together defined what would become known as Mod style.

Moffitt passed away last year at age 86, and now her personal wardrobe, including her wedding dress, is available to the highest bidder! It's estimate of  $200-300 is both disconcerting and comforting , no? Needless to say, it's one of the few pieces in the catalog NOT by Gernreich.

-- Unlike these amazing pieces --

Including his 1967 "Kite Dress"!

Finally, did you know that  Scientists have discovered a "new" color ?

It has been named "olo" and CANNOT be seen with the naked eye. How does one even define what makes a particular color, well, particular?  (Philosophy behind everything....)

The closest to "olo" I had was this 1970s maxi dress by Robert David Morton that sold on Etsy in 2023!

And we can "see" it!

Speaking of color, let's enjoy this video of an ochre hued Bjork
at Betsey Johnson's runway show in 1992!

She was the closer and her microphone was a potato
