Here's what's been catching my eye in the world of vintage/fashion this month!

* FIVE FASHION MORSELS *
1. Fashion exhibit on my radar: Dressed in History from our very own Chicago History Museum! It's a retrospective of some of the greatest hits of the sprawling collection, most of which is never on public display!
2. Favorite fashion editorial from the summer: the Dolce Gabbana Spring/Summer 2024print ad campaign - incredibly inventive while celebrating traditional Italian motifs/contexts. So crisply photographed by one of the greats in the field - Steven Meisel!
3. Designer on my mind: Mary McFadden (RIP). Her obituary in the New York Times (ungated) is a beautiful work of literary art in and of itself. I've had several of her pieces come through my collection.

4. Speaking of the NYT, they are exploring Why Do So Many People Wear All Black (also no pay wall). One answer is a quote from fashion designer Yohji Yamomoto: “Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy, but mysterious. But above all, black says this: I don’t bother you, don’t bother me.”
