April '25 Fashion Morsels

An April's Miscellany of
Fashion & Vintage Goodness

On April 2, 2010 I officially opened my business by creating an Etsy shop, making this month my 15 year anniversary!

I devoted a whole newsletter to a retrospective of RareJule Vintage.  If you just want a taste, here is  a mini celebration remembering the dinky little digital camera I used. I was late to the smart phone world...

This 70s Izod dress is the first item I ever sold - 10 days after opening my shop!
  (Crappy photography not withstanding!)

The shop now has  lots of new goodies in anticipation of warmer weather . One of my favorites is this printed summer dress c. 1990s!

Last month I spent 48 mind-blowing hours in Paris. One of the reasons was to see the Louvre Couture exhibition. Here is a  A great behind-the-scenes video from the Louvre itself (hat tip to Vicky).  My video  here.

The museum embedded stunning couture gowns, accessories, and jewelry from the last 75 years within its galleries; showing parallels with everything from armor to tapestries housed in the opulent Richelieu wing.
We spent about 4 hrs meandering through it and I still think we didn't find every object as I refused to go by the map!

More from Paris in the next newsletter!
(When I reveal the second reason for the visit!)

On my radar this month

PHILOSOPHY: What is "Vintage"? Read about It's evolving definition

HOW TO:  bring back a shrunken sweater from the dead
(April in Chicago is still sweater weather!)

INSPIRING MY PHOTO SHOOTS: The Fall 2025 Anna Sui collection.
No one references and honors vintage style like her!

RUNWAY MOMENT I CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF: Did any model ever have as much fun on the runway as Isabella Rosellini in 1995?

SCIENCE: Engineered bacteria can help keep discarded clothing from landfills!
