This is a very sturdy and crisp, square shaped quilt c.1860s - 1870s. Designed in barn raising log cabin style, it is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with a vibrant design of concentric squares / diamonds in a combination of dress weight wool and silk.

Backing:
The brown print backing is very of the period - showing a geometric grid filled with oval shapes in brown and cream.
There is one velcro strip appears along one edge, for hanging.
Note the edging where the back fabric is turned around to the top.
It is in very good, never washed condition, with a few minor issues. I found two small sections in the black silk that have small tears and a few other sections where the black silk is shattering. Rear has a very faint, pale yellow section right at the center point of where it was folded/stored. The quilt feels strong overall.
