Antique Ladies Jacket Black Silk Edwardian 1900s 1910s
Out of this world (or time) black silk jacket from the turn of the 20th c. with exquisite detailing. Tight to the chest and torso, with long, fitted sleeves and upturned cuffs. It has a basque waist silhouette with a pointy V waistline at front. Closes with interior, hidden hooks at center front. Interior is lined in black satin.
Collarless, it has curved panels coming across the fronts of the shoulders, embellished with ribbon trim in various textures of matching black. Each one is offset by hanging loops, embroidered in black, silk thread. There are vertical satin panels decoratively placed at either side fronts as well as across the upper back in horizontal panels and vertical ones at center rear. The rear also has a central panel that hangs below his waistline and there are black sash ties at the waist that I believe are supposed to go around the waist and attached with either hooks or snaps (now missing).
Condition: incredible considering its age and delicacy. The ribbon panels around the shoulder fronts, the edges of the sleeve cuffs, and along the vertical panels across the upper back have some fraying at the very edges of the perimeter. Interior lining has some tearing towards the waistline (not visible when worn, obviously).
