Vintage 1979 Yves Saint Laurent Skirt Suit Heart Print Silk Black White / S
From the Spring/Summer 1979 collection (as featured in Vogue March '79 - see pic 10)
Two piece matching set in silk print featuring a fitted blazer and knee length skirt in a striking white on black heart shaped pattern - crepe texture.
Collarless blazer has puffed, padded shoulders on long sleeves and button down closure at front. Waist is nipped, creating a small peplum like panel over the hips. Gorgeous silk ribbon trim is found around the neckline, the front opening, the hem, and the sleeve ends. Torso lined.
The matching skirt has a high waist panel, slit pockets at the hip fronts and a full lining. Soft pleating at the front. Closes with a side zipper and hook.
Overall the suit feels fluid - almost like a dress than two separate, structured pieces. We paired it with a contrasting red belt by Escada (sold separately).
