Documented vintage 1980 Missoni for I. Magnin two piece knit set: a camisole top and a pleated drop waist skirt in the house's signature stripes.
The stripe itself is the archival part. The same pattern appears in the January/February 1980 issue of Harper's Bazaar Italia, worn there as a sleeved top and long skirt (see photo 2). Yours is the flirtier cut: spaghetti straps, a scoop neck, and a skirt that stops above the knee.
Missoni's stripes run two ways here, horizontal across the fitted top and vertical down the skirt, in blue, purple, rust, white and gold. The wool, nylon and linen blend gives the knit a slubbed texture and real body, so the pleats hold their swing and the top keeps its shape.
The camisole is fitted through the torso. The skirt has an elastic waist, a fitted drop waist hip, and flared knife pleats. Unlined. No size tag.
