Vintage 40s Silk Scarf Italian Renaissance Painting Venice Port Ships Carpaccio

RARE and exquisite scarf featuring a scene from the painter Carpaccio's famous Renaissance painting series "Legend of St. Ursula" one of the masterpieces of Venetian Renaissance painting - a magnificent cycle of nine large canvases painted between 1490-1498 for the Scuola di Sant'Orsola in Venice.

The square scarf focuses just on one small detail of one of the nine works created for the series: a ship sailing into a port town with bridge, being greeted by a man with a lance. Note the beautiful border around all the sides - a colonnade of sorts echoing the Venetian urban landscape.

A beautiful piece that can be framed as wall art, if you are not wearing it!

Hand rolled edges. Vibrant colors. Luxuriously soft silk.
Excellent condition with no visible issues.
